We had a little lost track of the Wig Wam, which turned out to have separated in 2014 but today
they are back to reload with this brand new Never Say Die. The Norwegian glamsters had amused the public with four
strong albums of fresh hard rock and beautiful melodies: nothing that made one cry for a miracle, but certainly
respectable productions, capable of fully engaging the Wig Wam in the prolific hard rock vein. Scandinavian, actually
more Swedish than Norwegian. 

Never Say Die can be appreciated by virtue of a harder sound than its
predecessors, often trespassing on typically hard-heavy shores, only occasionally frequented in the band's previous
record rehearsals. 

And if the beautiful opener Never Say Die is a typical Nordic hard rock of these years,
not alien to the stylistic features of the various Eclipse, W.E.T. and H.E.A.T., Hypnotized is exemplary of a
substantial hard-heavy attitude that even recalls the less heavy tracks of the Masterplan. 

The whole album
plays on this alternation between moments of light-hearted, but never banal, hard rock with anthemic refrains (Shadows
Of Eternity, or Call Of The Wild) and decidedly pulled pieces (Where Does It Hurt, or Dirty Little Secrets). To remain
constant is the very full sound wall built by the Wig Wam, who do not skimp on fat distortions and open hi-hats, all
enhanced by a beautiful production, which helps to feel the presence of the band, resulting in a real added value to the
good writing of the pieces. 

Worthy of mention are Kilimanjaro, which is an excellent clone of the hard rock
attitude of the early nineties, and the ballad My Kaleidoscope Ark, which while recalling the latest similar tests of
the most radio Aerosmiths, manages to excite the heart of the rocker; unfortunately the result was missed by the other
ballad of the lot, a Silver Lining too obvious to deserve the pass, despite the excellent solo by Teeny that concludes
it. 

And if Hard Love winks at Whitesnake, in that iridescent kaleidoscope that is Never Say Die, we find in
Northbound an instrumental piece of excellent quality, where Teeny demonstrates her compositional and executive
maturity, giving four minutes of pleasant guitar melody, capable to alternate sweetness and aggressiveness. 

In conclusion, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by Never Say Die, which brings in our ears a band that has
really grown (and, perhaps, a little aged), who understood how cloying it would be to continue playing the role of the
clone of the years of the Sunset Strip and has managed to carve out a safe corner in a varied proposal and, ultimately,
full of scriptural freshness. 

Never Say Die deserves more than a listen, not so much to absorb the details,
but to enjoy it over and over again.
